Margie and Bob Bedingfield, who both graduated from the University of Maryland, have decided to do something amazing. They are donating an incredible $1.625 million to help students who play sports at UMD! 🏀⛳
Thanks to Margie and Bob, two special scholarships will be created. These scholarships are like gifts that keep on giving because they’ll last forever! They will help student-athletes who do really well in their studies while playing sports. One scholarship is just for the men's basketball team, and the other is for all athletics, with a special focus on basketball and golf. How cool is that? 🌟
But that’s not all! This kind couple is actually donating a total of $1.75 million. This total also includes the Margie and Bob Bedingfield Maryland Promise Scholarship, which goes to a business student at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. 💼
Bob Bedingfield shared something inspiring. He said that college sports help make future leaders, both in business and in the community. 🎓💪 This means that when students play sports, they learn important lessons that help them grow up to be great leaders! Damon Evans, who is in charge of Maryland Athletics, is super grateful.
