**Millions of Children's Lives Are at Stake**
Over 120,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are living in Burundi, a country also affected by poverty and crisis. Many of these children are struggling to survive, and their lives are at risk.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is experiencing severe conflict and violence, which is affecting people, especially children. According to a recent report, months of fighting have led to the deaths of over 4 million people and have critically displaced millions more.
Mohamed, a 12-year-old boy from Congo, lives with his family in a crowded refugee camp in Burundi. His family was forced to flee their home due to violence. Mohamed's life is marked by uncertainty and struggles to get the basic necessities he needs to stay healthy like food and shelter.
His mother, Maria, is worried about their future, "I never thought we would face such a crisis. I want to give my children the same opportunities but find it difficult with our current situation."
UNICEF is responding to the crisis in DRC and Burundi. With the support of generous donations, they have helped over 220,000 people in the last 9 months, mainly children like Mohamed.
Nancy Njeru, the Burundi Humanitarian ‘s country representative explains that,
"In times of crisis, children are often hit the hardest, but we remain committed to supporting their rights to education, healthcare and other essential needs."
